Blaze Ya Dead Homie’s Super Bowl preview and pick!

As much as this years Super Bowl looks and seems to be a replay of the game played in 2008, there are plenty of changes that happened in the span of a year, let alone four of them. The coaches, quarterbacks, and team names are the same, but thats about where the similarities end.

In this time in 2008 the New England Patriots were trying to become only the second team in history to finish an entire season undefeated. The New York Giants were there to destroy their hopes and dreams in the end with an unforgettable catch from David Tyree, that extended the drive. This helped Eli Manning capture his first Super Bowl title.

This time, changing history is in the hands of the Giants. They attempt to become the first 9 win 7 loss team to win the Super Bowl, since the league moved to a 16 game season in 1978. One of those 9 wins also happens to be a week 9 W against the very same opponents they face this Sunday. Tom Brady and the Patriots are certain to be studying game film in preparation.

Brady is the most knowledgable quarterback in the league next to Eli’s older brother Peyton. He is trying to cement his place amongst the greatest quarterbacks in history with a record shattering fourth Super Bowl title. (Terry Bradshaw had 4 in the 70’s)

With all the focus on the offensive explosion that can and may be the Patriots forte, this game really comes down to the dominance of the Giant’s defense. With proven stars like Osi Umenyiora an Justin Tuck meshing with newcomer Jason Pierre Paul, the front four of the defense has become ferocious and relentless when rushing opposing quarterbacks. The Patriots offensive line are gonna have their hands full trying to keep Tom on his feet, thats for sure.

It’s also the reason my Super Bowl pick this year is the New York Giants! Although its always tough picking against a U of M grown QB like Tom Brady, the Giants defense and Eli Manning have proven to be winners. With this title Eli not only proves he should be mentioned among the elite qb’s in the league, but he also surpasses his brother Peyton where it matters most in the NFL, with Super Bowl rings!

Super Bowl winners: New York Giants
